Idaho History Day

National History Day in Idaho is an exciting way to engage students in history. The program pulls students out of the classroom and into the world of the professional historian. Students track down information about historic people and events by exploring archives, libraries, and other resources. This research leads to new insights and original conclusions that students share in exhibits, documentaries, websites, and performances. History Day is a great way to teach students critical thinking skills while instilling a lifelong love of history…

Starting in the fall, curriculum and contest materials are distributed to History Day coordinators and teachers. Students in grades 4 through 12 conduct research on a topic of their choice that fits with the annual theme and create a project on that topic. Participants compete in their regional contest and may progress to state and national competitions. To receive annual History Day information, contact your regional coordinator, or visit the Idaho State Historical Society Website at:  http://history.idaho.gov/national-history-day-idaho.
