Steele Reese Foundation Awards Grant to Museum for Salmon Grange Renovation

GREAT NEWS! The Steele Reese Foundation granted the Lemhi County Historical Society $35,000.00 to begin renovations on the Salmon Grange. We now have a total of $40,300.00, thanks to funding from the Idaho Heritage Trust and monies earned at the Salmon Select Mule Sale!! Marc Williams Construction will begin the first phase in November, which includes ceiling replacement and insulation. Help us continue the momentum.

“Inventing Idaho” By Idaho Historian Keith Petersen

Keith Petersen is the Idaho State Historian with the Idaho State Historical Society.  He is the author of several books and articles about Idaho and the Northwest, and is the only author to have twice won the Outstanding Book on Idaho Award.  He is currently writing a biography of Northwest road builder John Mullan, who hoped to become Idaho’s first territorial governor.  His research into records of the Idaho territorial era has taken him to repositories from coast to coast.  His talk about the Idaho territorial period is entitled “Inventing Idaho,” and he will discuss some of the critical decisions made in the territorial era that still affect the lives of Idahoans today.  This program is made possible by the Idaho State Historical Society.
