“Bullets Like Rain”: Understanding the Battle of Big Hole
On the morning of August 9th, 1877, in the Big Hole Valley of Western Montana, the U.S. Army launched a surprise attack on a sleeping camp of 800 Nez Perce people.
Join National Park Service Ranger Mark Draper
for an in-depth exploration of the underlying causes of the intense battle that ensued, the bloodiest engagement of the Nez Perce Flight of 1877.
